Technique Tuesday : Baby Wipe Stamping

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator stampwithpeg – When Old meets New & Pop of Pink

It’s Technique Tuesday and I wanted to try out something I had seen on pinterest, The baby wipe technique (I will add a link below). I wanted to share something with you that I had not tried before, I don’t think it turned out perfectly but for my first attempt I am quite pleased with it.

Before I even started I came up against an obstacle, the best way to do this is to use ink refills and  I didn’t have any in the colours I wanted to use. So….. I had to improvise, so don’t be put off if you only have ink pads.

This is what I did instead.

I used a stampin block and pressed it on to my ink pad

I then got a folded baby wipe and wiped the ink from the block in one place on the wipe, I repeated a few times with the same colour and then repeated again with the other colours placing the colours randomly

This is what it looked like when I finished, it just looks like a mess of colours doesn’t it 🙂

Use the inked up baby wipe as you would use an ink pad, press your stamp in the colour making sure all the stamp is on the ink then stamp the image on your card. I wanted butterflies, the main colour in my card is Melon Mambo so used that, Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder and Cucumber Crush

I found this technique on Julie’s Stampin Spot Here

For my card I wanted to mix old with new, I love the new Pop of Pink Suite that is going to be in the new catalogue and from this I used Some of the washi tapes and some DSP. The main colour in Pop of Pink is Melon Mambo which we already have and is continuing, so I used this as the colour for my card base, layers, enamel dots and sentiment. My sentiment was from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and the butterflies from Papillon Potpourri stamp set.

This is my finished card with the rest of the designs in the Pop of Pink Designer paper Stack in the backgound, aren’t they fab. I’ve angled the washi tape and sentiment diagonally under the butterflies, and added a couple of enamel dots.

I hope you understand my instructions but if not check out the link above. Tomorrow I’ve got another project for men to go with my last couple, hope you check it out.

Happy Crafting
