Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator stampwithpeg – Long Notepad, From the Flower Shop For you!
Whats better than a cute little notepad ….. A longer one, so much better for writing shopping lists or jotting down ideas. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to decorate this at first so I picked a colour – Rose Red and went from there. Once I had the basics of the cover sorted this idea came into my head.
I cut 3 identical squares in Whisper White and Stamped them with the same flower from the Flower Shop stamp set. I cut 3 panels of Blushing Bride 1/8″ bigger, then 3 more Whisper White panels 1/8″ bigger again.
These were layered and then placed equal distances apart but with a slightly bigger gap at the top for the sentiment. I added the banner using the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set and Duet Banners Punch which will be available on the 1st June, and can be bought together as a bundle to save 10%.
I wasn’t really happy with the look it needed something else, so I added smaller flowers in Blushing Bride card, using the Petite Petals Punch. I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to each and then used wink of stella to add a sparkle to them.
I think the sparkle shows up better on this photo, and with the help of a couple of extra smaller Rhinestones this made all the difference and I love it now. So if you make something and are not that sure, take a step back and think what you could add, small changes can make such a difference.
Notepads come in all shapes and sizes so I thought the best thing to do was to try and explain how to measure whatever notebook you have.
To measure for your notepad cover:-
- Measure length of notepad and add 1/8″ (this will also be your first score line so jot it down).
- Measure thickness at top (add this to above and it will give your second score line)
- Add 2″ for the overlap on the back.
- Add these 3 measurements together to get the length of cardstock needed.
- Now measure the width and add about 1/8″ (a bit less is ok but not more) This will be the width to cut.
Score at measurements from stage 1 and 2, fold and burnish.
Add glue to the back of the overlap (3) and carefully add it to the back of your notepad.
The cover will be slightly wider for good coverage and slightly longer to make it easier to open.
I hope this makes sense but please please please get in touch if you don’t understand these instructions, either with a comment on here or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
