Watercooler Challenge : CAS Butterfly Theme.

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator stampwithpeg : WWC76 – Penny’s Clean & Simple Butterfly Theme Challenge

I really enjoyed taking part in ‘Pootles’ colour challenge this week so had a look round at other challenges. I have had a look at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge a few times but not been brave enough to take part but after doing my first one it gave me the courage to do more.

I love stamping butterflies but have not done much with them for a while so this challenge was right up my street, the criteria was:

A single stamped layer or a base with a single stamped layer, no embellishments, die cuts or anything else apart from stamping. Heat embossing allowed but not embossing folders.

There is a different challenge each week starting on a Wednesday. Click on the picture below to go to the challenge:

For my card I used a base of Sweet Sugarplum, and a Whisper White layer, I started my stamping with 2 stamps from The Timeless Textures stamp set, the leafy pattern up the right hand side and dotted pattern across the bottom stamped in Smoky Slate (stamped off first).

I added flowers in Sweet Sugarplum using the Number of Years stamp set, these were directly stamped and stamped off to give the different shades, I also used the same colour for my sentiments (Sheltering Tree and Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp sets)

Finally I added my favourite stamped butterfly in Dapper Denim which is from the Grateful Bunch stamp set. I just love this butterfly I think it makes a statement each time I use it.

I hope that I have got the brief right, I am still a novice at these challenges :), I am enjoying taking part and anyone can take part so why not give it a go, I love to see everyone’s interpretation of these challenges and all the fabulous cards that enter.

Please check out Watercooler Wednesday HERE.

My project tomorrow is a first from me, my first attempt at heat embossing. I think I’m hooked it was so much fun, please come back and check it out.

Happy Crafting

Lynn x

  1. Hi Lynn, you aced the challenge, following the directions to a “t”. What a beautiful use of colours! The Smoky Slate, Sweet Sugarplum and Dapper Denim are wonderful together, especially with all the varying shades of colour you achieved by direct stamping and off-stamping your inks. You’ve pulled together a lot of stamp sets seamlessly. All in all, just what the challenge asked for and more. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

    • Thank you, I’ve only just started doing challenges so to get such a lovely message means a lot. I am so glad my card fit the brief I must have re read it about 10 times to get it right :), thanks again

  2. Beautiful card, Lynn! You have packed a lot of texture into it, and yet kept it CAS. Love your colour combo – writing it down for future use! So happy you are taking part in our Watercooler Wednesday challenges. They are a fun way to stretch yourself creatively, and you are doing just that!

    • Thank you, I am looking forward to taking part in more, I love the chance to challenge myself and really appreciate your comments. I really lack confidence in my own work so its lovely to hear it was ok, thanks again.

  3. Lynn thanks so much for participating in the WWC76 Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. I loved hosting it with this very challenging type of card. CAS are not simple, but you totally got the concept and followed the brief to the letter. Perfect! Your card is very lovely and I really like the colour mash up and the sentiments you chose as well as the combination of all the stamp sets you used. I love the boldness of the blue butterflies against the softer stamping. Very nice indeed. Hope you’ll join us again for future challenges.

  4. Thank you, I am so glad I got it right and that it turned out ok, I am looking forward to joining in again. I was really nervous about joining in but you have all been so nice, thank you so much.
