September Card Swap : Boy Birthday Card using punch art only, Owl Builder Punch

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator stampwithpeg – September card swap : Boy Birthday Card using punch art only, Owl Builder Punch

This is the card I made for September, for my card swap group, it was a difficult one this month, we had to come up with a boys birthday card using punch art only and I had to think long and hard about it, I searched pinterest for ideas and kept seeing these little creatures featured on boy cards so thought I would give it a go and I am really pleased with the result, they are just so cute. I tried to match the expression to the position on the tower they were making obviously the one at the bottom was suffering the most 🙂

I used Real Red, Old Olive and Soft Sky card and punched out the creature using the Owl Builder Punch, which you can also use to punch out the circles for the eyes, the mouths were drawn on free hand using a Basic Black Stampin’ write marker.

I punched some of the owls feet using Basic Black card and used these for the hair and the arms were punched out using the Tree Builder Punch. I used the Duet Banner punch for the banners and stamped Happy Birthday in Real Red.

My card base was made using Whisper White Thick cardstock, I then added a matt of Real Red and a layer using Fancy Frost Specialty DSP. I added my punch outs to this and added a few enamel stars in Dapper Denim.

This months card swap is Fluffy, Frills and Pink, I had better get my thinking cap on, I will share what I came up with at the beginning of November when my swap has been sent and received by its recipient.

At the time of writing this (late last night) My legs are aching from a day full of retail therapy (well mostly window shopping) in Newcastle with my Daughter, we left the house at 9:30 am and got back at 9:30 pm but I always say if your legs don’t ache you haven’t shopped enough, but I am now feeling quite tired so I am off to bed. I will be back with quick card Thursday on……… you guessed it Thursday 🙂

Happy Crafting,

Lynn x
